One
day in early spring several years ago , I looked at the birds that
visit the beautiful white clouds wildflowers serviceberry trees . This reminds me of concrete plants and shrubs that make a lot of birds in my yard and gardens of native forests .
Instead of a group of one-of - a-kind shrubs boring , why not try different sizes, shapes and densities. What about mixing and vines fruiting shrub with several plants ? Mixed hedges provide many benefits for your garden, gardens and songbirds .
· Flowers , fruits and flavors
· Shelter from storms and predators
· Nests safe, secure
· Attractive to beneficial insects that help pollinate plants and flowers all native
· Protein required in the form of caterpillars and insects to help grow strong and healthy chicks
I started with a fragrant spice bush blooms in late June and early July. Always a pleasure to see so many swallowtail butterflies , black and yellow , which are dependent on this dark pink , lilac as aromatic Bush. I also saw some amazing butterflies and ruby-throated hummingbird pay many visits to my spice bush . It was an excellent choice to start my mixed coverage .
The following year I planted some shrubs weigela . I like variety , so I chose dark red cultivars , dark pink , white and varied. Those mixed with pink spirea that was planted at the same time . This year , I received a double lilac my mother as a birthday gift . The following year, on 6 Rose of Sharon plants were interspersed in my other planting hedges (1 double and 1 white lavender , dark pink 2 white and 2 pink deep throat ) . They become resplendent in early August , show butterflies , hummingbirds and beneficial insects in abundance.
Since then I have gradually added black raspberry bushes , a climbing rose (Robin Hood) and American fly honeysuckle with bittersweet and American holly plant . There is a climbing hydrangea began his career three years green and on the east side of the house. Last spring, a vine hummingbird, and cheekbone and blackberry hedges joined . Meanwhile, spirea and black raspberries have grown on their own, and I suspect that birds too.
Two months ago , I planted plants Northern Bayberry , elderberry , red raspberries and grapes fox. Deer fern fragrant come from this region , and mingle with old factories and shrubs , with wild blueberries . Can you guess how many birds I have in my yard at once?
Next year I want to add silver lace vines for the horizontal. American highbush blueberry, and flowers and fruit on Viburnums and Virginia Creeper vine on my list for future plantings . While some of my plants are considered invasive , I think the sensible size at the end of the flowering season does wonders to keep everything under control. Additionally, when planted densely in a configuration of mixed coverage , I found that each plant seems to guard the other , so that growth does not occur.
You can see in my history of the plantation that you do not have to install everything at once . I think it's best to be a fire sale at the end of the awards season . Each plant will have a label, if you know where to grow better. Consider the hours of sunshine you have, the part of your yard (whether protected or not) and their specific soil conditions . Also make sure you choose plants native to the area. This is what your looking for birds , and plants are acclimated to the area to have the best chance to thrive .
Over the years my garden has become a bird sanctuary that makes me feel very proud and happy. There are fragrant and colorful flowers everyday thing here . And this is the best testimony that I can give to plant a mixed hedge .
